Lauren is currently attending California State University, Long Beach as a Speech-language Pathology major. She will be graduating with her Bachelor’s degree in Fall 2022 and plans to continue to her Master’s degree in the same discipline. Lauren was first introduced to the ABA field while volunteering at Rowland Unified School District. During this experience, Lauren implemented and encouraged the use of augmentative and alternative communication in the special education classrooms and provided language modeling to children with various communication needs. She soon learned that behind every behavior, there was a communication intent. Immediately, Lauren saw the marriage between the speech-language and behavioral disciplines, and her role as an advocator began to develop. From her years of experience working with kids across the age span, she saw the need to be an active voice among students with various communication and behavioral challenges. BSP has shown her the effects a united, dedicated, and compassionate team has on a child’s success. Her dream is to open a multidisciplinary clinic that specializes in speech, occupational, physical, and behavioral therapy and be a liaison in the behavioral and speech-language domains.
